De Sacanta

De Sacanta project imagesDe Sacanta, or to call it by its full name De Sacanta Seigau Alba Iulia is set in the rolling hills of Romania. The project was set over three floors, with the basement semi covered within the hillside itself.

The location of the project posed some design issues, as winter temperature can reach as low as -15°c. This issue was further complicated by the use of a ground source heat pump.

The system was installed using our Standard Floor Panel which allowed accurate pipe placement whilst giving a neat finish to the installation. The floor panel is easy to fit and comes supplied with tongue and groove edges.

Due to the low flow temperature need by the heat pump to operated at a high efficiency, the UFH system was installed at a high density. The system used 100 mm pipe centers throughout the project. This allowed the underfloor heating system to provide the maximum output of energy per m².

Under peak load the system had the capably to delivery the energy needed, despite of the restriction caused by the low flow temperature need to maintain the high performance of the heat pump.

Careful heat loss calculations  were carried out to ensure the system would have the ability to delivery the energy required under peak load.

Proper design is paramount for low temperature UFH projects, as once the the system has been installed the cost of a system that cannot deliver the energy required to heat the building can be overwhelming.
