Requirements
The installation of a floor heating system requires a similar level of effort, concentration, and application of knowledge as is required for any other system. Since, however, the system will be embedded in the structure for the life of the building, every floor heating system should be regarded as a prototype, and extra diligence applied to design compliance.
The procedures in BS 5955 Part 8 (1990) cover the installation thermoplastic pipes for conveyance of hot and cold water. BS EN 1264 Part 4 provides further information, for underfloor heating systems. Other standards such as BS 6700 (1997) and BS 8000 Part 14 (1990) cover additional site and design responsibilities.
